One host fails, other fails too

Post by cyberbootje4 »

Hi

I am having an issue with cacti, i am using spine and have 16 devices monitored by cacti.
The problem is that one server takes a few minutes to make an heavy backup at night, cacti says it is down and that is true.
But at the same time another machines fails but that isn't true, i have external monitoring too that checks every minute and machine is NOT down.

Any idea's?

The first thing to verify is the downed host detection method. SNMP is recommended in most situations. Next, the cacti.log of the time of failure is of interest

I did a nuber of different methods.

snmp AND ping
only snmp
even, snmp OR ping

And again, it failed last night, the cacti log is very big and at the exact time i can't see any abnormality

If the host is reported as "down", it will show up at that interval in cacti.log. If it does not show up, cacti does not detect it as down, then.
