How to upgrade?
I followed this installation guide and it works great, but I installed v 0.8.7.d . I need to upgrade to 0.8.7.e to take advantage of some wmi scripts to monitor our SAN.
How can I determine where Cacti is installed so I can back this up? The basic upgrade instructions in the cacti manual suggest using moving and replacing folders, but Im afraid i might break my production cacti box.
Im a newbie and have basic linux knowledge at best.
All help is greatly appreciated.

if you followed the guide:
CACTI is located at /usr/share/cacti/site
www-root is the Web User
Watch out for the symlink for the RESOURCE directory - it can be found in /usr/share/cacti/resource.
When performing the upgrade, overwrite everything in /usr/share/cacti/site
Access the Cacti console, and follow the upgrade wizard
Download PIA 2.6, and extract this into /usr/share/cacti/site.
You will need to change global.php (and maybe include.php) located at /usr/share/cacti/site/include to enter your correct mysql settings
If this process fails for whatever reason, ensure that you have correct permissions on the site and files

Poller Information
Type SPINE 0.8.8b
new install, not graphing
hi there, i have a new install and have following this guide to the letter
the only main diff would be ubuntu 10, instead of 9
here is what i have done
fresh install of ubuntu, setup as lamp
once installed i did - sudo apt-get install php5 php5-gd php5-mysql
once installed i did - sudo apt-get install cacti-spine
I hit OK to the frist question about php path change, then chose apache2, chose yes for database config, enctered the root password for mysql, added cacti password and then confirmed it, then onto the next step, configuring cacti
my screen was the same as the one from the tutorial, and everything was green, logged in and changed cacti admin pass, went to poller path to verfify spine, changed poller type to spine
NOW, here is the issue
I have added two cisco routers, chose SNMP v1, put in the appropriate community name, and verfied with the ios version show in the top left of cacti
i created a cpu and interface graph
when i click on graphs, the graphs show up, but they never show any data
i know the cpu should be at least 20 percent, and the traffic on both of them is aroudn 30 m all the time
i am not really sure what to check

First you must make sure that you have at least one dedicated IP address for this server. Every SSL enabled host must be on a different IP address
Setting up Lighttpd can be more extensive than this, but here some basic instructions:

Re: [HOWTO] Installation on Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) Server
Can I follow this guide if I have Ubuntu 14.04?
Re: [HOWTO] Installation on Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) Server
issue is if you run apt-get install cacti, it installs version 0.8.7i.
The latest is 0.8.8b. So no automatic install of the latest version through aptitude yet... unless someone knows a source to add that has the latest version in .deb format.
