Spine error and global performance

Post by guitou »

Hi,

I'm facing many problems with spine poller when using perl scipt (monitoring Cisco QoS class).
See prior post at http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t ... ght=syslog

I've try many tuning in cacti poller, boost option, etc ...
I've try to tune MySQL too by modify query_cache_size, thread_cache_size, innodb_thread_concurrency, key_buffer_size and innodb_buffer_pool_size.

The probleme still exist.

I'm wondering if POPEN problem can be solve with windows spine version compile with cygwin.dll 1.7.x (actually served with dll version 1.5.25-cr-0x5f1 in BOSD 1.94 windows installer). How can I get/make this beta spine version ?

More global, is there MySQL and/or Cacti best practice in order to support large site with more than 100 devices with perl script ?

Actually I must switch back to CMD poller to avoid POPEN timeout but the poller take more than 300s often :- (

Thanks

TheWitness is the spine expert for your issue.

You can download spine from the svn and follow the [complicated] instructions on how to compile it.

If you are using cygwin 1.7, then you will need to build Spine from source. It's not that difficult. You have to compile net-snmp and mysql client libraries which you will have to download from sources. There are instructions for windows in the source distribution.

Hi the Witness,

thanks for your reply. I'm not using cygwin 1.7 but just the one include in the spine folder. With my small skills i think i cannot Re-compile spine version. So I'm waiting for your investigation and purpose I you can find time to spend on it ...

thx and good continuation
