Liebert PDU Units

Post by scoscmil »

I am trying to graph some stats on a Liebert Power Distrobution Unit, but I'm still fairly new to Cacti. I've got SNMP enabled and can find my values I want to graph with Tembria SNMP Browser (see attached screenshot). But when I do an SNMPWalk on my Cacti (Ubuntu Server), I don't see them.

The value I want to graph appears to be .iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.476.1.42.3.5.2.2.1.10.2

It is total KWH consumed (yes, I'm trying to turn our datacenter green).

I've tried graphing this value as a generic SNMP value, but haven't had any luck. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm by far the authority on SNMP, so I might be full of it -

My understanding is that those MIBs can't be referenced by name without a MIB file being loaded. The first portion (.iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises) actually correlates to a set of numbers.

I use a program called NuDesign Visual MIBrowser Basic 8.2 (a mouthful) for walking SNMP. It will load MIBs, but also show you the raw numbers. I.e., .iso is 1, .org is 3, on and on it goes. So, if my research is right, your OID is actually

1.3.6.1.4.1.476.1.42.3.5.2.2.1.10.2

In order for either cmd.php or spine to poll the SNMP data by name, it has to have a MIB loaded. Again, based entirely on my understanding of how this works, which might be completely off - the MIB is the equivalent of DNS to SNMP. It takes a name, and tells the SNMP app what the number is. So without that mib, it doesn't know what to look for.

Try putting that raw OID into your data source.

Otherwise, post a copy of the log file with the debugging turned up. Best to attach it as a text file - it makes the powers that be happier.

Out of curiosity, what model Liebert? I've been looking for MIBs for a Liebert UPS.
