Hi All,
I am stuck trying to create an inverted graph for my Cisco switch.
Here is a sample of the end result:
So,. I created a walkthrough of what I've done, and I got stuck near the end.
So how do I go about doing this?
Step 1:
======
Goto: Management --> Graph Management --> CDEFs
Step 2:
======
Select "Turn Bytes into Bits", then select "Duplicate" at the dropdown list box and press the GO button.
Now, enter the 'duplicated' entry and modify it's name accordingly:
Step 3:
======
Now, click the "Item #2" and enter it to modify it so it should show -8 (ADD the MINUS sign in front of the digit 8 ). The picture above already shows the -8 as it should be.
Templates --> Graph Templates --> Interface - Traffic (bits/sec,Total Bandwidth)
You are now in the edit mode of the template.
Step 4:
======
Modify the Title field. (see below in the red box).
This will give you info about the interface name, number etc.
Here is the entry you want to have:
|host_description|, |query_ifName| -Traffic - |query_ifAlias|
Step 5:
======
Now, look at the Graph Template Items: (yours might show same or different we'll prepare it in a minute):
Remember that INBOUND traffic is INTO THE Cisco router/switch and OUTBOUND is FROM the Cisco router/switch.
We want the INBOUND (into the Cisco router/switch) to be the UPPER side of the graph (shown in GREEN) and the OUTBOUND (from the Cisco router/switch) to show at the LOWER side – in BLUE.
You can create your own graph,. Or use an existing graph and modify it.
The key point to note is that the default graph will show the GREEN side (upper side) and we need to tweak the portion of the OUTBOUND – BLUE which is meant to be shown in an INVERTED look.
Step 6:
======
So we only need to visit item # 6 as shown in the picture above.
We need to modify the CDEF Function that we previously set with -8 so that it will show as a Negative value.
Step 7:
======
Now,.. click on:
Management --> Graph Management
Notice the Graph Template used.
Step 8:
======
Now, Enter that graph and Edit it.
As you can see, I've ended up with a ONE side graph only.
In this particular traffic page I should see something around 1.42 M as Outbound, but I don't see it showing here.
What am I missing in the steps?
Thanks for any input.
-Sup.
======
RESOLVED:
STEP 9: finish
Here is the correct settings of the Graph Templates. These settings helped me reach the final output I was looking for.
Thanks for the support and hopefully this guide/walkthrough will help someone else.

graph limits
i can't see it, but what value do you have for your lower limit in the graph template? perhaps if it is 0, it needs to be some negative value.

Thanks for the quick reply.drewshin99 wrote:i can't see it, but what value do you have for your lower limit in the graph template? perhaps if it is 0, it needs to be some negative value.
Following your suggestion, I modified the value from Zero to -100, but to no avail.
Here are the definitions shown on the lower part of the page (you will the -100 in the field mentioned).
Thanks,

At least the given min value is too low for your data (you're in the 10 M region!)
R.
With the help of a friend we figured out the correct settings with the --alt-autoscale in the Graph Templates.
I've included a "Step 9 " that shows the settings that I used to produce the sought looks.
Hope this helps someone else.
cheers,
