For example, I want to draw a graph of a server's total traffic of each day, each month or each year
If we can do it, how can we achieve it? Please do me a favor!
Can we use cacti to monitor a server's total traffic

Install net-snmp on the server (if it's unix) or Windows SNMP server (if it's windows). Then use the "Interface Traffic - Total Traffic" template.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Thank you! But I didn't find "Interface Traffic - Total Traffic" template, in my Cacti, there're some templates as follows:Howie wrote:Install net-snmp on the server (if it's unix) or Windows SNMP server (if it's windows). Then use the "Interface Traffic - Total Traffic" template.
graph template
Interface Traffic - Traffic(bits/sec)
Interface Traffic - Traffic(bits/sec,95th Percentile)
Interface Traffic - Traffic(bits/sec,Total Bandwidth)
Interface Traffic - Traffic(bytes/sec)
Interface Traffic - Traffic(bytes/sec,Total Bandwidth)
data template
Interface - Traffic
If I can build a "Interface Traffic - Total Traffic" template, how can I do it

It's part of the Data Query "Interface Traffic".
Associate that Data Query to your host (or, better, use the Host Template "ucd/net snmp"). Then "Create Graphs for this Host". You'll see the traffic stuff at the very bottom of the page. There's a dropdown to select the Graph.
All this is described in detail at 1st link of my sig
