linux memory usage

Post by sjl »

I've just installed cacti on a linux machine and am simply using the localhost memory usage template - I believe its working ok, its just a bit confusing, because the template and included scripts are in kilobytes - so the orders of magnitude are off. Specifically:

When I run <install>/scripts/linux_memory.pl MemFree it outputs 387148, which is in kilobytes - I actually have 387Mb free. When I look at the graph, the left hand axis says kilobytes, and the "current" value says "365.50 k" - which is correct - I have 365 thousand kilobytes free... Similarly, my free swap says I have 3.99M free - again correct, I have 3.99 million kilobytes free.

Is there an easy way to tweak this to display in bytes, such that the graph displays "365M" and "3.99G" free?

Please see man rrdgraph and find the section on Y-Axis. Then change the graph template accordingly
