RRD file name

Post by poplyra »

Hi,

I would like to choose the rrd file name, as I would on old cacti releases. Since I, sometimes, have to change the devices where the polling is made, the rrd file name no longer makes senses after the first change. It will be a lot more easier if I could choose the filename (using my cliente name of example, or the link name).
Is there a way to do that? or I will have to hack the "generate_data_source_path" ?

If you want to change how Cacti generates .rrd filenames, you will definitely have to edit generate_data_source_path(). Currently there is no way to force Cacti to ask for this value at graph creation time. This comes from the fact that I wanted to keep this field out of the data template since it should always be unique to an individual data source.

So what happens if Cacti needs the path names for each of the 96 ports you just checked on the "New Graphs" page? I believe the old versions of Cacti would create 96 individual textboxes, which is more annoying than anything to the user.

While I may add the capability to change the default .rrd filename format, I doubt that I will revert back to the old 0.6.x behavior completely.
