Graphs offset after system time change

Post by speedweasel »

Hi All,

I noticed that clock on my Cacti server was drifting so I set up NTP to sync my Cacti server’s clock to my time-source, but I forgot to set my timezone and my NTP source was set to UTC!

Of course my Cacti clock shot into the future and all of my graphs jumped forward by 10 hours. I logged in and set the correct timezone on my Cacti server and now all of my graphs are showing the correct current time, but my graph data is offset in the past by approx 10 hours. That is, the time is correct on the x axis of my graphs, but my data patterns are obviously wrong. Cacti reports my peak data occurring around 4am when it should be around 2pm.

Additionally, if I run the Realtime plugin, I can see that the real SNMP values being retrieved from my equipment don’t match what is being shown in my graphs at all.

Maybe some graphs will help explain...

Is there some way to fix this 'offset' in what is being shown in my graphs?

RRDs were updated tomorrow

Post by speedweasel »

Update: I have checked all of my RRDs and Linux is saying they were last updated tomorrow (!)

-rw-r--r-- 1 root apache 4867736 Nov 6 2009 checkpoint_splat_-_fw2_errors_in_1125.rrd

Which is a problem considering it's currently the 5th of November.

In the immortal words of Professor Feynman, "I believe that has some significance for our problem."
