Data query works but no data is graphed.

Post by motociclante »

Hello to everybody.
First of all I apologise for this post if there's a topic's duplicate. I've searched for it but I've not been able to find it.

My problem: I've added a new device under my CACTI installation. The device is a Nortel ASF: a firewall appliance made up of one CORE module and an accelerator with the NIC interfaces.

There's no template of it so I've used the same criteria used to collect data from other devices: add new device, device's ip, snmp version, generic snmp host and so on.

For this new device I see that data query returns several row but, when I try to create a graph from it I've always blank graph.

If I create a new OID template for each interfaces I get the data suitable for the grpah. Unfortunately I have to do this for every single interface, for outbound traffic and inbound too. I think this is a very tricky way so, I think that there cold be a better (easyest and faster), way to do this.

I'm wandering on the manual searching for the correct workflow (e.g first of all create a data source or a host template...), but I've not been able to find something like an HowTo.
Thank for your collaboration.
Davide.

Thank you, BSOD2600, for your answer. It seems that it doesnt apply al all but I'll try to find out my real issue in this docs section.

That guide should help you... with cacti in debugging mode, the cacti.log should reveal the problem(s) occurring with your data query.

Until you have entries in your poller cache, the graph will never be created.
