problem with SNMP interface statistic

Post by UstasAlex »

I just noticed that the speed of my interfaces is mixed up. the number that is supposed to represent the speed of outgoing connection actually shows incoming stream and vice versa. I was about to change descriptions in the template when I saw that the speed is shown correctly on my trunk port that connects this switch to the other switch, but on access ports the incoming and outgoing speed are mixed up
Why is it so?

Don´t know what your are meaning by In and Outgoing Speed. There is only one value that should be used for interface speed in mib2 and that is ifHighSpeed Counter 32.

Overall it sound like an error in your vendors mib-file.

First start with the basics, read the RFCs of SNMP so you know what exactly you are doing.

Its not done by just gathering some infos via snmp.
