Huge problem with Spine [urgent please help]

Post by mdherens »

Hi everybody!

I really need your help for this.

I have a new install of Cacti. The CMD poller works fine but I really need to make Spine work as soon as possible and I don't understand what seems to be the problem. Permissions don't seem to be the problem. I have checked everyone.

when I go into the cacti log file, here is what I get:

I found out how to solve Spine problem by re re re reading the installation manual ! The issue came from the dll files in rrdtool and spine directory.

I still have the other issue: when I try to repair the database I get lots of messages saying :
PHP Notice: Undefined index: Tables_in_cactiDB in C:\apache2\htdocs\cacti\cli\repair_database.php on line 79
Repairing Table -> ''PHP Notice: Undefined index: Tables_in_cactiDB in C:\apache2\htdocs\cacti\cli\repair_database.php on line 80
Failed
I installed phpmyadmin and it pointed out that I did not have the extension for mcrypt so I installed it but I still can't retrieve the status of the mysql table using the cacti interface : system utilities/technical support.

Any idea ?

Try running the following instead

Code: Select all

mysqlcheck --auto-repair --databases cacti

thanks it worked perfectly !

I have another question concerning the interactions between plugins. I noticed that when I enable thold and aggregate, aggregate stop working (the aggregate graphs continue working but I can't create a new one). When I go to graph management, I select the graphs I want to aggregate (from the same template of course) and I click on "create aggregate graph" then the next page that is being loaded only shows a grey square.
I found an easy work around by disabling the thold plugon when I want to create aggregate graphs but it is still a bit unconvenient.

Any idea on what might be causing this ?

this is my configuration:
windows 2000 server
Apache 2.2.11
PHP 5.2.9
Cygwin 1.5.25
Cacti 0.8.7d
RRDtool 1.2.15
MySQL 5.0.77
NET-SNMP 5.4.2.1
Spine
plugins: aggregate, discovery, loginmod, monitor, settings, superlinks, thold

Thanks for your help !

This is a bug with the released version of THOLD. If you get the latest version out of SVN, the issue is resolved.

If you can't get into SVN, let me know, and I'll post a working version here.

This is probably a stupid question but what is SVN ? How do I install/change it ? I am quite sure I have the last version of Thold.

Thanks,

:)

SVN = Subversion

Not that easy to setup if you're not familiar with it. In view of this, here you go...

Thanks for your help. I tried to install this version of the thold plugin.
So I copied the thold directory into the plugins directory, I activated it in the global.php file and imported thold.sql.

Unfortunetely, it did not resolve my problem concerning aggregate and the plugin thold did not work either (even enabled). When I try to create a threshold, it says record updated but does not do anything.

Is there anything I might have missed ?

cheers,

M

This version of THOLD does not use the global.php file to activate the plugin - that's the old way of doing things.

for this to work, you need at least PIA2.4, and to have imported the pa.sql file into your cacti database.

I know this works, because I use this very version of THOLD, and AGGREGATE also.
