Hi there!

I feel your pain.

I'm using CentOS 5.2, and I think i can help you.

Follow the steps on this page EXACTLY as they are:

http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/howto-inst ... hel-linux/

Ignore this section:

# cd /usr/local/
# ln -s rrdtool-1.3.1/ rrdtool/
# cd rrdtool
# ls -l

Then, go to Cacti Settings, and make sure the path goes to: /usr/local/rrdtool-1.3.8/bin/rrdtool

Check, whether rrdtool is installed by typing
rpm -q rrdtool
or simply try to run it
rrdtool --version
or use System Utilities -> Tech Support to see which rrdtool was discovered by cacti.
What message was displayed by
yum install rrdtool
