HELP! Blank graphs after upgrading cacti and rrdtool

Post by charlesc »

Hello,

We have Cacti running on a CentOS 5.2 box on VMWare. Everything was fine until an accidental "yum" update. Both Cacti and RRDtool were upgraded. Our Cacti is now running 0.8.7d with 1.3 rrdtool. Since the upgrade NONE of our graphs work.

By upgrading does this scrub some config file or such causing you to reconfigure anything? Please go easy I'm a Linux newbee.

Thanks.

Hi!

Maybe you could start by checking all the paths in console/settings/paths...
Are they all still OK?

Also, goto Graph Management, view a single Graph, press the "Debug" link and post what you find. Also, you can paste the Graph creation syntax to a shell and observe your error message. Remember RRDtool 1.3.x does not use TTF fonts.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

Thanks for your help guys. All the paths say ok. So I went ahead and pulled up one graph and turned on debug. I got this:

----
RRDTool Command:

/usr/bin/rrdtool graph - \
--imgformat=PNG \
--start=-86400 \
--end=-300 \
--title="ntasa01-mgmt -" \
--base=1000 \
--height=120 \
--width=500 \
--alt-autoscale-max \
--vertical-label="0" \
--font TITLE:12: \
--font AXIS:8: \
--font LEGEND:10: \
--font UNIT:8: \
DEF:a="/var/www/cacti/rra/ntasa01-mgmt_snmp_oid_1351.rrd":snmp_oid:AVERAGE \
AREA:a#F5F800FF:"" \
GPRINT:a:LAST:"Current\:%8.2lf %s" \
GPRINT:a:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" \
GPRINT:a:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s\n"

RRDTool Says:

No fonts found; this probably means that the fontconfig

Maybe it does have to do with the fonts after-all?

Thanks for the help. So I ran yum install dejavu-lgc-fonts.noarch

and now the graphs show up again, however they are blank!

Could I have possibly changed something simple in the "Settings" when it first broke and I was troubleshooting? I'm going to go back over all the settings. The only thing I see is under "settings/visual" down under 'Title Font File The font file to use for Graph Titles' is set at 10 and just below it still says in red "ERROR: FILE NOT FOUND".

Can anyone help? Thanks for your help so far I'm certainly on the right track to getting cacti back up and running.

As I said previous to this the graphs disappeared. Then when I installed the new fonts the graphs returned, however they are not graphing anything. Any tips?
