Graphs not working, RRDtool Crash

Post by CrazyMike »

Having issues on Cacti where the graphs are showing up broken. Currently using CentOS 5 64 Bit where I recently preformed a clean install of Cacti 0.8.7d and using RRDtool v1.3.

Currently I'm trying to graph Memory Usage of the local host.

I have checked the cacti logs and noticed the following is repeating itself:

"05/12/2009 11:20:03 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] ERROR: Detected RRDtool Crash attempting to perform write"

There were no issues installing Cacti or RRDTools and there appears to be no errors in the Poller Cache.

One error I did notice, under Settings - Path - RRDTool Binary Path, there's a message that says [ERROR: IS DIR]. Not sure what this message means and was not able to info on it.

Let me know if you need more information.

ERROR: IS DIR means that the path you have provided for the RRDTool binary is a directory, and not the rrdtool binary itself.

If your RRDTool binary is in the /usr/src/rrdtool directory, then your path needs to be /usr/src/rrdtool/rrdtool (you need to include the name of the binary as well as the folder it's in).
