Spine 0.8.7d switches to UDP ping instead of ICMP

Post by ccalhoun »

CentOS 5.3, Cacti 0.8.7d, Spine 0.8.7d

When switching between the cmd.php poller and Spine poller, Cacti switches ping requests from ICMP to UDP. ICMP reply still shows as responsive when editing device but the device shows down in the devices screen. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

We currently lock down our firewall services to what is specifically needed on each device. Spine works fine and devices show up when I allow all traffic through from the device.

I am just trying to understand why this is working the way it is.

Thanks for your excellent product guys, from a long time user. I am sure someone will have an explanation.

Please ask TheWitness for the behaviour of spine. But check changelog of spine first, it may have been done on purpose
