Downed Device Detection

Post by ging0023 »

Hey all, I'm having some problems with downed device detection. It is sending emails and detecting downed hosts except for a small problem. I have it set to monitor "Ping and SNMP" and I still get emails like this:

Host Error : GRSDC2 (GRSDC2.****.net) is DOWN
Message : Host responded to SNMP, UDP: Ping timed out

I thought by putting Ping and SNMP it would require the device to not respond to both in order for an email to get kicked out. I tried "Ping or SNMP" and it seems to be doing the same thing. Which one am I supposed to select if I want it to only email when both are not responding? It is also showing the device as downed in the Monitor plugin when SNMP works but UDP ping does not...

Thanks,
Ryan

Yes I am using spine. And I am also on 0.8.7d. It was a fresh intsall of 0.8.7d on a new machine - never been upgraded. Any other ideas? Spine should be up to date as I downloaded it from cactiusers.org within the last month.

Ok, I'm sorry  - I guess I had 0.8.7c installed (confused with 0.8.7d of cacti) Thanks for the info I'm off to install the new version.

I have the same exact problem with 0.8.7d spine and 0.8.7d cacti. I had to revert back to cmd.php for the poller.
