Bandwidth for Multicast Network Map

Wondering what users are configuring for Multicast Bandwidth links? If you are tracking Multicast, it is Packets Per Second, not bits per second, so the bandwidth calculation doesn't compute correctly if you are using the default scale.

I Found this conversion tool and a Cisco web page that discusses:

If you follow the conversion tool, and your interface is configured for JUMBO frames with an MTU of 9216, at a Maximum that is saying that a 1GB link should have the following configured:

BANDWIDTH 14563

Assuming 64 bit frames:

BANDWIDTH 2097152

Since any size in between can be sent, what's the correct setting?

I guess the other way to do it is to watch your Multicast PPS and get a baseline, and then alter your scale to change color to what concerns you....even if its not 80% of your bandwidth being consumed.

There isn't really a "correct" setting. Choose what pps value you want to show as red, green etc, and then set the BANDWIDTH appropriately.

Generally, the maximum is super-bad, so once you are past there you don't really care how high the flames are...

That's my feeling anyway. So the baseline method is the way I'd go.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
