Graphing problems

Post by moya »

Hi everyone!!

I need some help troubleshooting a graph. The graph in question is for a Wi-Fi radio (smartBridges) that does not respond to the canned scripts from Cacti. I have downloaded a script that was ment for MRTG, modified a bit and get what I think is the proper output:

MULTI command: perl /var/www/html/cacti/scripts/sb-mrtg.pl -i 192.168.254.200 -c public -t w, output: RBytes:12833 TBytes:7971

This is properly updating, I think, the rra as you can see:
update /var/www/html/cacti/rra/tbytes_27.rrd --template rbytes:tbytes N:12833:7971
time: 2

As you can see the output for this script are "rbytes" and "tbytes". On my Graph Template I especified "rbytes" as a green AREA and "tbytes" as a LINE. When the graph is populated I get both, but "tbytes" is following the profile of "rbytes". In a perfect world, if I had done it right, the line for "tbytes" should be closer to the base of the graph.

I'm using 8.4 on RedHat 9.1

Thanks for your help,

I would check your graph under "Graph Management" and make sure the two data source listed under "Graph Item Fields" are different. If they are both referring to the same data source, then that is the root of your problem. It is possible that you are experiencing a small bug that I just uncovered tonight as well. I will be posting a patch to the board tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply Ian. Unfortunately the Graph Item Inputs are different (rbytes, tbytes). If I'm lucky it would be the minor bug that you are referring to.

Thanks again and I'm looking forward to that patch that you are working on.

By the way, thanks for a great application.

Hi Ian,

I tryed to apply the patch without success. This is what I get :

Code: Select all

[root@localhost cacti]# patch -p1 < graph_item_inputs_save.patch
patching file lib/template.php
Hunk #1 FAILED at 282.
Hunk #2 FAILED at 309.
2 out of 2 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file lib/template.php.rej
I assume that I'm getting this error because I'm still on 8.4. I will upgrade tomorrow.

Thanks.

Yeah, that patch will only work with 0.8.5. Let me know how the upgrade goes.
