update plugin is not proxy server aware ?

Hi:

our networks are behind firewalls and I notice that the update plugin always shows we are up to date on version and the download pages showed otherwise.

Then ran check.php from CLI and observed that the URL requests for version checking all time out. Basically because, the code does not check for proxy server configuration.

Am I correct in my observation or have I misconfigured something ?

looks like the code needs to be rewritten with CURL to work behind firewall/proxy servers. Are any developers working on it ? or is it in the to do list already ?

Yes, this would be a very handy feature. We are running a rather secure environment and I cannot get direct access to the Internet for my cacti box.
