SNMP - Get Mounted Partitions Issue

Post by FrA »

Ok,
I've read the topic with title similar to this one, but unluckly I don't have in the Event Viewer the same error.

The problem is that in some windows host, I can obtain the total space, but the used one no.
I'm using the generic SNMP script (scripts\ss_host_disk.php).
In log file what I can see is:

Code: Select all

03/16/2009 02:30:04 PM - PHPSVR: Poller[0] DEBUG: INC: 'C:\...\ss_host_disk.php' FUNC: 'ss_host_disk' PARMS: '192.168.2.7 8 2:161:500:1:10:public:::MD5::DES: get used 0'
Someone has got an idea?
Thank you

1) read http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=11747 and then repost.
2) search. this question has been asked many times.
3) increase the snmp timeout and decrease the number of snmp queries for that device.

First, thank you for the answer.

I've installed everything consulting your guide.
In your FAQ I haven't read nothing about this problem.
I have applied the latest patch for cacti.
The software that I'm using is:

Operating System: Windows Server 2003
Webserver: IIS 6
Cacti: 0.8.7d
MySQL: 5.1.32
PHP: 5.2.9-1
RRDTool: 1.2.30
Net-SNMP: 5.4.2.1-1
BSOD2600 wrote: 2) search. this question has been asked many times.
I have seen, but nothing has helped me.

BSOD2600 wrote: 3) increase the snmp timeout and decrease the number of snmp queries for that device.
Unluckly nothing happens (snmp timout from 500 to 2000 - 35 hosts, about 150 graphs).

This is the output taken from the log:

Code: Select all

CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[3] DS[22] SERVER: C:\..\ss_host_disk.php ss_host_disk 10.10.x.x 3 2:161:500:1:10:public:::MD5::DES: get used 2, output: 0
RRDTool doesn't return any error.
Querying same OID (taken from php script) with GetIf return value.

All processors SNMP scripts works.

1) Please post an snmpwalk of the disk space against that server. Also, execute it many times in a row -- each time does it return the data?

2) Are you using the cmd or spine poller?

3) Did you also reduce the Maximum OID's Per Get Request?

4) What is the average ping times to the problem devices?

I'm using cmd poller, but now i will try with spine.
BSOD2600 wrote: 3) Did you also reduce the Maximum OID's Per Get Request?
I have tried to change the value from 10 to 5, but nothing chanced.
BSOD2600 wrote: 4) What is the average ping times to the problem devices?
About 10 ms.

Ok, I've tried with spine poller, but nothing changed.
Besides, I don't know if it is of any importance, but I notice that all the failures on the graphs are on the C: labelled (partition with sysop) used space disk of the monitored hosts, but the other partitions and physical memories are ok.

Someone has got an idea?
Thank you
Possibly - are the hosts running SNMPv1 or SNMPv2 ? I've seen this a couple of times with Windows servers, and changing from one to the other, then performing a verbose query in Cacti seemed to resolve it.

Thanks for your answer.
I've tried even this, but nothing's changed.

The strange thing that I've notice is that I've added 2 problematic hosts to another installation of cacti located on another host.
I'm getting correct values on mine installation.
Why? :D

Can you post a verbose query from one of the affected servers ?

Ok, I've disabled the affected host on cacti of the other server, and stopped to collect correct data even on mine cacti server.
It seems so funny :S
Anyway:

This is the verbose query when the graphs don't work.

This part

Code: Select all

c:\progra~1\php\
might have something to do with it - Cacti doesn't normally like spaces...

Infact I'm avoiding the use of spaces using 8.3 notation.
(c:\progra~1\php\ instead of c:\Program Files\php\).
I've read in documentation that in this way is possible.
Anyway, I' m moving php in c:

The strange thing is the fact that if I collect data from another host with another installation of cacti, even on my installation on my server I collect correct data, at the contrary if I disable the host from the other cacti, even my cacti stops to collect data.
