Copying Devices

Post by Jasonmc »

Is there any way in Cacti (I'm running the latest version of CactiEZ) to copy a device? I've got tons of the same device that the only difference is the IP address and description. Would be much easier for me to just copy one I have pre-entered and change this information than creating a whole new device. The device templates don't seem to be containing everything I need. It is possible I'm not using device templates correctly, as I figured this is the exact situation they were designed for. Thanks in advance.

Not required. Goto the cli directory and look at the add_graph.php and add_device.php and add_tree.php. If you spend a few hours with these, you will be greatly rewarded.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

Have you looked at the command line options?

You should be able to customize the host templates to contain anything you need, but you have to work from the ground up. Host templates are made of Graph Templates and Data Queries. Graph templates will reference Data Templates and they in turn, except for an snmp OID or data query, will reference Data Input Methods. Once you have all the graph templates and other stuff you need, create or modify a host template and you should be set.
