I can't be the only person to ask this question, but I can't find a good search result on these forums.

I can certainly adjust my polling interval using cron for poller.php, but I would prefer to only generate graphs daily or so. I certainly don't need to have my computer CPU pegged every five minutes for data that I rarely look at, and when I do, I'm only looking at trends over long periods of time.

I do see a way to adjust the graph generation intervals for the export, but I don't see any way to adjust it for the graphs accessible on the 'graphs' tab. I also don't believe these graphs are generated on the fly...Am I wrong?

At any rate, is there any way to better customize how often cacti generates graphs?

1) graphs are only generated on demand when a user views the Graph page/tree.

2) If you're talking about using the Graph Export feature, it's customizable for how often it occurs in the Timing section.

Ok, thanks...It's a shocking amount of cpu time used for only polling about 500 datasources on a single cisco router. It's been a while since I was really paying attention to cacti, and I'm reading about 'boost' and 'spine', so I'm going to look into those to see if they can help out at all. Thanks again!

Ok, I got spine up and running and that made a huge difference. When they say 'order of magnitude' faster, they're not kidding. My polling time went from 100% cpu load for 90 to 100 seconds to a very small blip lasting less than three seconds.
