[solved] RRD "No such file or directory"

Post by M@tth3w »

Operating System: Windows 2003
Webserver: IIS6
Cacti: cacti-0.8.7c
Spine: -
MySQL: 5.1.31
PHP: php-5.2.8
RRDTool (Cygwin or Win32 version): rrdtool-1.2.30-bin-w32
Net-SNMP: -
Cygwin (cygwin1.dll version): -
Plugin Architecture: -

Hi everyone, I'm setting up Cacti for the first time and attempting SNMP monitoring for the first time, so please forgive my ignorance in some things

I have a Cacti installed, it runs and I can login, the basics appear to be configured as they should. I've added a router to the the devices list:

Code: Select all

Linksys RV802 (192.168.2.1)
SNMP Information
System:10/100 8-Port VPN Router
Uptime: 7842600 (0 days, 21 hours, 47 minutes)
Hostname: RV082_00:12:17:4C:CF:CC
Location:
Contact:
Which it appears to be able to communicate with. It has a Generic OID Template associated to it. Under graph managment I have;

Linksys RV802 - Traffic - ipsec0 10 Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) 120x500
Linksys RV802 - Traffic - ixp0 7 Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) 120x500
Linksys RV802 - Traffic - ixp1 8 Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) 120x500
Linksys RV802 - Traffic - ixp2 9 Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) 120x500
Linksys RV802 - Traffic - lo 6 Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) 120x500
Linksys RV802 - Traffic - ppp200 11 Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) 120x500

If I open and debug any of these I have the same similar error message;

RRDTool Says:

ERROR: opening 'C:/Inetpub/test/rra/linksys_rv081_traffic_in_13.rrd': No such file or directory

I've removed cacti and reinstalled everything from scratch as per bsod2600's windows install instructions (some different dirs though). I've also used procmon to try and capture any "denied" events, there never is any. IIS_USR & IIS_WPG both have modify rights to the rra folder

I'm probably making a school boy error here but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You've reverted back to cacti 0.8.7b? I ask, because the newly released 0.8.7c has some issues with templates (fixed in the svn) and the public is waiting for patches to be released....

As for your issue, did you change the logging level to debug for a polling cycle and look for any errors?

Technical support page show any errors?

:o I spent some time looking this afternoon, I made a very stupid error in my config and some how left out the php/poller scheduled task..... *slaps forehead*

I have partially working graphs now (yay!). I can see graphs in the Console -> Graph Management -> but not from the graph tab.

Is this related to the known issues?

Thanks!

Did you create a graph tree and place the device/graphs on it?

Hi :) Yes I added them to the default tree. When viewing the graph page the entries appear but the actual image of the graph is broken, showing a nice box with a red x with the name of the graph next to it. If I click on the broken image the graph(s) appear on the page that loads.

Its so very close to working! :D

Thanks.

Set your rrdtool version to 1.2 in cacti's settings.

Doh! Missed that one. I've changed it, now I have a list on the graph tab and no broken images, which I assume is correct.

Thank you for your assitance. Now to label the graphs and makes them a bit more meaningful, that'll keep me busy today 8)
