Windows Server 2003 64-bit R2 ASP.NET

Post by GamonAdmin »

Hello,

I recently have a Windows Server 2003 64-bit R2 running cacti perfectly fine with no issues. The server in question is pretty much my administration server that I use to administer network applications for my company. Recently I have been trying to install Symantec Endpoint Protection (yes I know, ugh with Symantec) on this server but I have been having issues as to why I could not get a certin process to remain started. Just yesterday I have found my answer and now I am able to get the SEP to work without any issues, but it breaks Cacti. In order to get it to work I had to turn off the 32-bit ASP.NET v2.0 Framework and turn on the 64-bit ASP.NET v2.0 framework. In doing so this breaks Cacti because it seems cacti runs off of the 32-bit framework. When I turn off the 64-bit framework and turn on the 32-bit framework, Cacti works fine, but then SEP is broke. Quite the dilemma, yes I know. I would like to keep this servers Framework in the 64-bit mode. All other applications have not had an issue.

My question is, what would I need to convert cacti to use the 64-bit framework? Will my current version of PHP5 not work with 64-bit framework because it doesn’t recognize 64-bit process?

Is this at all possible? Any help is greatly appreciated.
If you need any more info, please let me know. Ill be monitoring this thread thoroughly.

Thank you in advance.

There are a few who have gotten cacti running on 64 bit OSes. I recall that the got 64bit versions of PHP, MySQL and rrdtool. This is what you'll have to do too.
