Cisco Interface Descriptions in Title

Post by crazt_j »

Hi,

I've begun to use Cacti this week and its working very well so far but I would like to customize my graphs a little bit more.

My goal is to add the Cisco interface descriptions to my graph.

I've taken the following steps to do so but its not working:

1. Go to console
2. Go to Data Sources
3. Click on the appropriate source
4. In the name field I insert the following line:
|host_description| - Traffic - |query_ifIP| - |query_ifAlias|
5. Click on save

After I do this, in the Data Source list, I see the name field now includes the description instead of the interface. However, the graphs do not show the description. Please let me know if I inserted the |query_ifAlias| in the wrong spot.

Thanks,

First, please distinguish between ifDescr and ifAlias.
Second, for Data Queries the place to be change is
Data Queries -> Graph -> Suggested Names
You may change the sequence for applying title rules or add new rules. See e.g. http://docs.cacti.net/?q=node/232
