Hi,
I have upgraded from 8.6j to 8.7b and after installation none of my graphs work.
I have check logs and poller does it work correctly (snmp returns correct value). RRDTool afterwards tries update RRD files with new value and from log perspective it looks good but when I dump RRD file (any of them) and check if there is value that I saw in log (that RRDTool was supposed to update)- there is NaN in RRD file (for all timestamps).
One of my records in logfile:
POLLER: Poller[0] CACTI2RRD: c:/rrdtool/rrdtool.exe update c:\cacti\rra\cucm_unregisteredphones_764.rrd --template UnregisteredPhones 1227803120:4
part xml file that I dumped from rrd file(cucm_unregisteredphones_764.rrd):
<!-- 2008-11-27 16:25:00 CST / 1227803100 --> <row><v> NaN </v></row>
But when I execute rrdtool update command (with other timestamp) value I enter will be in RRD file placed correctly.
What can be wrong, and how can I troubleshot that - is there any log file or any other source of information about DDRTool?

RRDToold doesn't update RRD files

Hi,
I am in windows environment if that makes difference.
I set scheduled task to log all output and error stream to file but there is no errors at all, even I execute poller manually there is no errors.
Have you got any idea what could cause that problem - I even try two version of RRDTool.

So far I had 1.2.27, I have just changes to 1.2.26 as you sugested
2) If you manually run one of those full rrdtool update commands, does it work?
I used to be able to update rrd file manually but since I use 1.2.26 it doesn't work as well.
The weird think is - there is set of servers (only servers no network devices at all) that cacti is graphing properly and all others aren't graphed at all.
3) Follow the Debug Windows NTFS permission problems guide and see if anything turns up.
Permissions looks fine - I even promoted cacti user to admin role to be sure that permissions are not the issue.

Hmm that contradicts what you earlier said. But anyways, in that case sounds like cacti isn't collecting data. I have done some additional testings and it seems that installation is fine in general - I have removed database and create clean one, create some graphs from screech and it works fine. it is about upgrade when I sue database from old server it fails.
Is there any other way to copy graphs, devices and all templates between cacti installations?

graph data is stored in the rrd files. Configuration info / templates are stored in the cacti db. Also make sure to copy over any extra scripts.
There shouldn't be any problems moving cacti from one server to another. Does the Cacti technical support page state there is anything wrong with your configuration on the new server?

Cacti technical support page doesn't detect anythink wrong.
I am trying different options now - I have upgraded cacti from 8.6j (as previously) and deleted all host that are not graphed properlly. I have recreted one of those host and on graph for it - and there is one point on graph. Only first rrd update wrote proper data in rra file. all others wrote NaN value.
Why? - I don't know.
any idea?

Change the cacti logging level to debug for a few cycles and look through it. Why isn't that problem device returning any data? rrdtool update running with that new data?
