Disk usage and space inconsistencies

Post by gunja99 »

Hi all,
I have just installed cacti, and not an expert at all in rrd, mib, and all this (though quite compentent Linux user). I've got snmp v3 running on the remote host, and eventually got some graphs and the poller running.

My problem is that the disk space stats are not correct, the values dont match df on the unix box itself:

Cacti reports: 93.18GB as free for example, and df reports 251GB. Cacti reports: 127.45 G used, and df reports 110GB used.

Real total space is 361GB, and cacti reports this as: 220GB...

Please help as this is rather annoying :)

Thanks, Martin

Actually I don't think the memory is correct either. What hosts, sources, templates should I be using, the options available confuse the hell out of me. Im trying to monitor a standard debian unix box :)

I think I have found out. it's using a data source query for the local host, not SNMP, so is getting the readings locally. I dunno how to get the SNMP mounted partitions... Back to the drawing board :) And reading through the manuals... ho hum

I believe reading graphing a linux remote host may be of help, too.
