Custom OID graphs don't populate properly

Post by Geoff-AU »

I installed Cacti using the beta installer for Windows, came up fine and can graph interfaces but other tasks are problematic.

I am trying to get some custom OIDs out of a Cisco router (namely, graphing SNR and Attenuation figures). I have the OIDs no problem, but Cacti isn't building graphs for me. What I have done is the following:

1) Copied the Data Template SNMP - Generic OID Template to make 6 new templates (so I could graph multiple values on the one image). These new templates are type "Get SNMP Data" with per-source min and max values, type Gauge, and per-source IP and OID.

2) Created a Graph Template that uses these data sources. See attachments for the settings on the Graph Template (easier than typing, all 3 images are the same page).

The data sources all use the "Divide by 10" CDEF because the router reports dB*10 in its OIDs.

Cacti now creates the graph but all the numerical fields are coming up as "-1.#J" and there is no graph data. Help! I did a CSV export and all the data points are coming up as NaN.

I have Cacti graphing traffic on this router already, when i created a new graph I just selected the interface from the Data Queries window and away it went. The Custom OID one was a bit different, I had to say I want it to be a certain type of graph and then clicked nothing else in the list below.. do i need to make a data query or fiddle with XML files or what's the go here.. Cacti looks like it was made by someone with a fetish for templates and while I'm sure it makes life easy in the future, it's a bit confusing for someone trying to learn the ropes!

This is not the the best way to do this. Look instead at something like the ucd/net snmp Load Average Data Template and Graph Template.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
