Bad bad
DO NOT CHANGE DATES WHEN USING RRDTOOL
You will get SERIOUS problems when doing so. RRDTool will not accept updates with a lower timestamp than the last successful update

So is there a potential fix for this? It may be problematic for those that run the machines to the local timezone especially during daylight savings.

I know for a fact that my server updates via NTP, if not, I then force change it to be correct.

Seems to me like a fairly critical thing.

No fix. You have to wait until the last update timestamp that was recorded in the rrd file is reached. Then, the file will automatically accept new updates. This is a restriction of rrdtool. If running ntp, such a problem should not occur unless resetting timezones. You may want to use UTC to avoid coping with daylight savings
