[SOLVED] Added PHP sockets - now Cacti is dead

Post by erekose »

I recompiled PHP5 with sockets enabled and thereafter everything just stopped.
Cacti is still there, but no new data. Running the poller manually produces nothing. Apache2 has been restarted, but no change. All my graphs are now flatlined...

What could have gone wrong?

Lots of views, but no ideas?

I installed spine today to see if there was an issue there, but to no avail.

running /usr/local/bin/php /home/cactiuser/cacti/poller.php produces nothing...

Well, I re-compiled without sockets = no fix.
I restored my backup of the cacti dir = no fix
I dropped the DB and restored from an earlier backup = no fix

So, I am looking at a completely new install. The only difference is a re-compiled PHP5.
Other PHP web apps run fine (mediawiki) and Cacti web pages display fine, but CLI commands do nothing.

No rras
Empty logs.
No errors, no nothing...

Did you try to revert your php to the previous version which was working?

I re-compiled with the same options as my initial install. Unfortunately I did not back up the binaries before the re-compile.

Uhm, you are missing the MySQL module in your compile. That is "definitely" your problem.

True understanding begins only when we realize how little we truly understand...

Life is an adventure, let yours begin with Cacti!

Author of dozens of Cacti plugins and customization's. Advocate of LAMP, MariaDB, IBM Spectrum LSF and the world of batch. Creator of IBM Spectrum RTM, author of quite a bit of unpublished work and most of Cacti's bugs.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

Wow, that is odd.
I don't recall specifying it on the initial build, and with MediaWiki still working I had not suspected it.
Sure enough, it works now!

Thank you.
