Trouble following installation docs

Hi,

I am trying to install Cacti on a Windows machine and am having trouble understanding what the following line is trying to say (from the Windows instructions):

" If you are running MySQl 4.1 and above, you will need to apply the old password setting in order to authenticate with Cacti. To make this change, stop the MySQL service and add the following to the Start Parameter field. Start it again once it has been added.

"

Where is this Start Parameter field I'm supposed to modify? I'm new to networking and would appreciate your help!

Under Linux, this would be /etc/my.cnf
Don't know what this is called under windows

Is this a configuration file for mysql?

I found that the corresponding file in Windows is my.ini and added the option in that file. I still do not see the login box when I open http://(myserver)/cacti. Any ideas?

So: what do you see instead? What does the error_log of the httpd show you?
