How To add a new device

Hi All,

After installing cacti and plugins succesfully.

I tried to add a device it shows unkonown state

the firewall port 161 is opened and instlled net-snmp on client
after editing the snmpd.conf file i'm not able to get status up

Please let me know list of things to do for adding a new device for solaris and linux

Have you checked the configured snmp community? it's the same you are using (public or something else)?
Are you able to contact the device if you do a command line snmp-walk to it?
