Where do I find / How do I install RDDTool for Windows?

Post by Gaucho »

On Cacti website, under "Chapter 3. Installing Under Windows", it says:

"Software Components Required

(Optional) Apache> - This software is optional if running Windows Internet Information Server.

Cacti> - Install from the zip distribution and install in the web root or your choice. Many choose to install into a "Cacti" sub folder.

Spine - Install from the zip distribution into the c:\cacti directory. Make sure your spine.conf.dist is located in that directory as well.

===> RRDTool - Install from the Cacti website. Install it into the c:\cacti directory. <===

(...)"

So it asks us to install from the Cacti website, but I can't find it... and on the RDDTool website, the Windows installer is very confusing, it asks you to have Perl runnning and perform some commands on the OS level, which I did but to no avail, I could not get it installed.

Thanks in advance for your attention.

Hello BSOD, yes I did look on the rrdtool site:

Anyway, I've looked at http://www.gknw.net/mirror/rrdtool/ and have downloaded rrdtool-1.2.28-bin-nw.zip.

Still, the "installation" is confusing. Actually there's no installer (no .exe or .msi whatever), it looks like you just need to unpack the whole thing under c:\cacti but even this is not clear.

Could you please help me on this step?
- Where should I unpack the content of this .zip?
- Is it just a matter of unpacking on the c:\cacti directory and that's it? (very unlikely for me)
- Is there any other step to have it "installed"?

Thanks in advance for your time.

you downloaded the NetWare version of rrdtool. You want the W32 (aka windows 32bit) downloads...

There is no installation for rrdtool. The installation guide (in my signature, forum README sticky, etc) covers your questions.
