Port utilisation threshold alerting issue

Post by cahonis »

I'm monitoring 2 switches (multiple ports).

All ports are 1GB and the graphed I/O data is in Bits/per sec. I've set the threshold to 900000000 but I am being alerted when it hits 8057629.0833.

I presume it's a relational problem between the ports monitored speed and the threshold limits but my maths don't seem to add up.

Threshold works on the raw values, which are in BYTES/second.

Hmm, but that would be the opposite problem...
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

I've edited the threshold to 125,000,000 but still getting erroneous alerts :-?

Is your nic reporting in bits, bytes, etc...? Which graph template are you using, and what is the CDEF applied to that template?
