Moving a Cacti installation ?

Post by hamster2k3 »

Anyone has done that before ?

In the future I might move my cacti installation from the current server which is using RH 7.2, to another Linux server, maybe Gentoo maybe another one... not sure!

But anyone has done that move before ?
Moving configs, graphs, and the application it self...

Okay for the tools like rrdtool, netsnmp, apache and stuff that's not a big deal to reinstall. But with the mysql database is there anything special I should know ?

Is there maybe a HOW-TO about that subject ?

Also btw, great job raX! You rulez! I used cacti 1 year ago and it was so so... but the features that I've found in the current version is soooo cool!

Thanks,

-Eric

I'm in the proccess of doing exactly that.
I'll let you know how it works out for me.

What I'm basically doing is an mysqldump of the cacti database and importing it to the other server.
Then copying the rra files, crossing my fingers and hope it works! :D

Total Success !!!

Cacti 0.8.4 is now running on my new server with no aparent issues.

I will make sure for a day or two, but it looks solid!

Well the only thing left for me is to try Cactistoric. I think it should be part of cacti from now on.
