All graphs and Devices lost

Post by freddykr »

Hello,

I have a big problem.
I'm monitoring with cacti (version 0.8.6c) about 100 server since two years without any problems.
But today, all my graphs are gone away. Also all devices in the device list are not in place.
The service at the debian system is polling in the background and is writing the *.rrd files.
The only error I can see is at /var/log/cacti/cacti.log: "SYSTEM STATS: Time: 1.0867 s, Method: cmd.php, Processes: 1, Threads: N/A, Hosts: 1, Hosts/Process: 1
08/18/2008 11:15:03 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] ERROR: Either there are no items in the cache or polling is disabled".

I have tried to add the devices again, but I get a "Saved failed" message.

Somebody any ideas, because I don't want to reinstall this system?

Only 1 host poller? Sounds insane. Do you have a mysqldump of your cacti tables? Did you already try to repair the mysql tables?

Yes. Its only for team internal monitoring.
The operational monitoring is done with other systems.

But the problem has been "self finfished", because the server has been gone his last way today in the morning. --> R.I.P.

I think, there was a defect at the HDD-controller which results in errors at the databse at first.

Now, I'm restoring the system with the backup.
