Simple how-to on graphing a single OID using SNMP

Post by ylachanc »

This is a simple how-to on adding a SNMP device without the use of template.

I think that this could help other people like me getting started...

Comments are welcome.

Thanks for a howto doc. That was exactly what I was looking for and had spent a lot of time trying to figure out by myself.
I did everything following your doc and I got a preview graph, what means that particular oid exists and all the persmissions with rra directory are right. But I have no data on that graph.
I checked rrd file - there is no data as well.
I try to collect ifInOctets with oid .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10 on Cisco router
and also tried ModemsUsed with .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.47.1.1.6 on Cisco Access Server.
I get values if I snmpwalk through manualy.

By the way, I have cacti0.8.4 on Debian

Thanks in advance

Figured out.
Had to put .0 at the end of oid.

no zero if retrieveing any information from particular instance.
