Solaris 10 SNMP trouble

Post by abkdj »

Hi

I am trying to install and configure SNMP on Solaris 10 box so that i can monitor it with Cacti.

I have removed the SNMP which came with the solaris install and have installed SNMP version 5.4.1.2 from the sources available at sourceforge.

Now the problem is that whenever i enable SNMP it goes into maintenance mode.

Code: Select all

bash-3.00# svcadm enable net-snmp
bash-3.00# svcs net-snmp
STATE STIME FMRI
maintenance 13:32:38 svc:/system/net-snmp:default
I am getting the following in the log file /var/log/snmpd.log

Code: Select all

Error opening specified endpoint ""
Server Exiting with code 1
I followed the following page for installation of SNMP
http://www.technicalarticles.org/index. ... Solaris_10

I have looked up on search engines but i am unable to find anything useful.

Please guide as to what might be the issue.

Thanks
AbkDj

You might find better support at the Solaris website.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
