Clone a host - populating graph_templates_item.task_item_id

Post by arober11 »

Hi

I've been asked to replicate the monitoring on one host to a dozen cloned / load balanced copies of the server. As the base host has 90 odd graphs / data sources and several hundred data items, I though the easiest method would be to knock out a little stored procedure to clone a host at the mysql level, simply replacing the hostname on each copy.

Hit one snag, associating the new graph_templates_item.task_item_id with the correct data_template_rrd.id values. Am I missing something or will I have to create my own mapping tables, to associate the graph_templates_item.local_graph_template_item_id and data_template_rrd.local_data_template_rrd_id values?

Regards, Andrew

We will not support this approach. You may surely do so at your will, nevertheless. We encourage you to use our cli scripts, that are well-documented in the manual available at http://docs.cacti.net
