1) read http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=11747 entirely.

2) part of your issues are probably from using xampp.

3) upgrade rrdtool to 1.2.26 or later, win32 build.

From experience, XAMPP is difficult to setup properly for Cacti. If you want to use an all-in-one product, then use WAMP, from www.wampserver.com

I have Cacti running under WAMP. Just be aware that there are TWO php.ini files - one in php5.2.6 and the other in apache\bin
Cacti Version 0.8.8b
Cacti OS Ubuntu LTS
RRDTool Version RRDTool 1.4.7

hajime: Why do you refuse to install/configure php/mysql manually?

oh..i've tried using wamp but still the same error occured.
ERROR: reading the cookie off C:/wamp/www/cacti/rra/router_cisco_traffic_in_8.rrd faild

i think the problem was my rrdtool. i used rrdtool 1.2.27.win32.
i tried to run rrdtoll direct from wincmd same error reported.

my windows : XP home edition ver. 2002 SP2

what i supposed to do next....?

Have you tried BSOD2600's Cacti Windows Installer ? This is extremely well put together, and would certainly make your life easier. The only thing you'd need to do is ensure that you have IIS installed, and no other instances or MySQL installed or running (designed to be a bare bones install).

Well since that error is thrown from rrdtool, search on Google / this forum for solutions. Wouldn't hurt to run a chkdsk and make sure your partitions have enough free space.

wamp preconfigures stuff for you, which creates problems because then you don't follow the cacti installation guide! Also some of these installers are dumb and litter the system with multiple copies of php.ini for example.

There isn't anything wrong with rrdtool, it's your setup.
