[SOLVED] Treeview won't display and uses all the processor
I'm having issues when trying to view the tree view. List and preview work fine.
Here is my setup:
mysql 5.0.5
php 5.2.6
rrdtool 1.2.26
net-snmp 5.4.1
cacti 0.8.7b
Cygwin1.dll 1005.25.0.0
Spine 0.8.7a
The cygwin and spine are installed but I'm not using them.
The windows box:
Server 2003 R2 with SP2
dual 1.4 GHz processors
3.5 GB Ram
In the php.ini I've increased the time to 60 seconds and memory to 512M.
I have roughly 200 hosts created with about 8500 graphs. When I'm all done there will be roughly 10,000 graphs, but the tree view won't load.
The page tries but I end up with just a blank page.
I noticed earlier, maybe 5000 graphs, that when logging in to view the tree that the processor would spike to 100% and the tree would take roughly a minute to load. Now I can't see it all.
If I can't get to the tree it's not the end of the world, but the grouping is nice to have.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

1) I'm assuming you've already created graph trees in Cacti?
2) Is it the IIS process which consumes all the cpu when it doesn't show?
3) Any errors in the event log / iis web logs after the high cpu usage?

I'm glad that you posted, I wanted to thank you for the awesome documentation on how to install on Windows. Things were step by step making it very easy. Thanks again.BSOD2600 wrote:1) I'm assuming you've already created graph trees in Cacti?

Correct, I have already created the tree.
As far as processes, mysqld-nt.exe uses between 50 and 60%.
The others are a W3... and cidameon and a php.., but all less than 10%.
No errors in log.
hmm sounds like possibly a MySQL issue. Have you done any optimizations for mysql? Turned on the query cache, increased the number of concurrent connections, turned off unused db types, etc?

I've not done anything with MySQL. I'll look around and through the manual to see what I can find. Thanks.BSOD2600 wrote:hmm sounds like possibly a MySQL issue. I've turned on query cache and turned off binary logging, but have not seen a difference. Mysqld-nt.exe is still using 50-70% of cpu when trying to display the treeview. Any thoughts?
I've thought about creating another instance of this and making a copy of the database to split some of the hosts apart. I was able to get the data over, via backup and restore, and able to log into the site, but not able to see graphs for the already configured hosts. The devices appear in the console screen under the devices secition and the tree is visible on the graph screen but the devices don't have any graphs. Is the path configurable so that I can point it at the already configuredd rrd files?
If I add a graph for an existing device, there is a spot for the graph but I get the red X, which leads me to believe it's a path issue. Any thoughts on how I could mass copy/upload from one database to another so that I don't have to add one device at a time? Or any other better ideas?
Thanks,

Ah glad you fixed it. Interesting that the optimizer actually helped, lol. Wonder what was so messed up...
