How to upgrade mysql in a server with cacti

Post by saya »

Hi all, I am trying to upgrade mysql from 4.1.20 to 5.0
When I installing the 5.0 rpm, it shows me libmysqlclient.so.14 is required by mysql-server, perl-dbd-mysql and php-mysql. However libmysqlclient.so.14, as I searched in the Internet, is for 4.1.20. So i was trying to remove these things and then install 5.0 and then reinstall every thing. But the problem is that, php-mysql is a dependency of cacti!!! how can I remove cacti to upgrade mysql which is used to support cacti???
can anyone tell me how to upgrade mysql??

thanks a lot!!!

Which distro, please? Cacti relies on mysql(-client), for sure. But everything from 4.x and above is fine (with exception for the VERY latest mysql; it's broken). You may note this to your package maintainer.
In the meantime, you may want to remove cacti.rpm and install using tar.gz instead
