CACTID: Poller[0] Host[77] ERROR: SNMP Version Error for Hos

Post by martos »

Hi all,
I have working Cacti on my server. Now I want to graph ping latency to some web host. Everything works fine except this in the log:

03/15/2008 12:40:02 PM - CACTID: Poller[0] Host[77] ERROR: SNMP Version Error for Host 'domain.com'

I have checked: SNMP Version "Not In Use"

Have you checked the device 77? And there is a difference between SNMP queries for data gathering (in "SNMP Option" -> "SNMP version") and the Option for pinging the host (in "Availability/Reachability Options" -> "Downed Device Detection"). If you just want the device to be up/down monitored, you don't need the "SNMP Option" and in the "Downed Device Detection" you need to set it to udp or tcp (without SNMP).

I just left the community string empty and there are no more errors in the log
