I am currently graphing a very busy network that is being used to push multicast video streams around. We were pushing 100M of video between 11 switches. The graphs worked perfect and showed a steady 100M stream for the trunk ports and on the Network Weathermap.
Now for the problem.
We enabled the following command on one of the Cisco switches that is handling all the VLAN routing :
ip pim sparse-dense-mode
and
ip multicast-routing distributed
We still have 100M of multicast video being distributed through the network but the trunk ports are now only showing 1-5 M of data. I think there might be a problem in the way that the data from the interface query is interpreted. Does anyone want to tackle this? I can get SNMP info, graph history, and switch configs if that helps.

Re: Multcast interface problem
Change cacti's logging level to medium for a few polling cycles. Compare the numbers that are returned for the switches in question with that IOS setting on/off.Cornloaf wrote:We still have 100M of multicast video being distributed through the network but the trunk ports are now only showing 1-5 M of data.
