Help cisco router

Post by freccetta »

Hi to all.I'm new to cacti but I got it up and running fine.

I have only one problem with cisco routers. To be precise I have a problem with memory graghs. The work ok but but the output I have is strange.I have a router with 32M of memory but the graph says I only have 6M.I get an output showing a total of 6M and about 4-5 used and 1-2 M free.

I used the xml that I found on this forum:
http://forums.cacti.net/about3873.html

something isn't right.I have also tried a second router 3800 but same problem. This time I only see a scale of 1....

Any suggestions?

Tks

When you manually snmpwalk the OID(s) for memory, what do they return?

If I'm not wrong you want me to do a :
snmpwalk -v2 -c public 29.29.29.29 "(OID)"

but I'm not sure where to find the OID ...should it be in the xml tha I got?
Sorry but I'm new to this

carmelo@carmelo-linux:/usr/share/cacti/resource$ snmpwalk 29.29.29.29 -c public -v1 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.48.1.1.1.6.1
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.48.1.1.1.6.1 = Gauge32: 356056
carmelo@carmelo-linux:/usr/share/cacti/resource$

I got this output using a cisco OID but is it the same one I'm using with cacti.......so confusing

The issue here is, that cacti will poll any OID you are requesting. If this OID is of any relevance is left to you. Cacti will not know, that's a memory related OID. So please verify, that those OIDs are responsible for exactly that memory value you are interested in. This "may" be device and surely is vendor specific

OK thanks I unterstand that.So what you are saying is that probably I'm not using the correct OID.

I'll double check it on cisco but I'm pretty sure it's right.

Let's say I want to try poll another OID can I just change it in the xml file before import?

Please find a full description at the first link of my signature. You will find HowTos for extending cacti on your demand by OIDs, scripts and stuff including Template generation
