Host down errors

Post by ar2197 »

Every few days, I get a false host down error. The host seems to not reply to the pings, but it isn't actually down. A minute later it's fixed. I am using SNMP ping only, because I have one host that isn't responding properly to UDP pings. I would like to only have the host marked as "down" if it doesn't reply for 30 seconds. I have set the number of pings that cacti will try to 10, but I'm not sure that is doing what I want. Is there a way to set this? If not, does anyone have any other ideas on how to fix the hosts that cacti falsely sets as down?

Thank you!

Please upgrade to 087a. You will find downed host detection on a per-device base, then. You are able to select the Method, timeout and retry count
