Cacti 0.8.7a cannot create rrd files. HOST STATUS UNKNOWN

Post by CarLost »

Hi I do a upgrade on a all new machine (I copy all datas and rrds and folders etc. from old one to the new machine).-

Then I make the upgrade just like the doc/UPGRADE say.

when I try to make a new graph y get this

Code: Select all

RRDTool Says:

ERROR: opening '/home/httpd/html/cacti/rra/g_leones_101_traffic_in_21.rrd': No such file or directory
I review all permision and etcs in the dirs and subdirs and change some new parameters on PHP.ini etc!!!!!!

Don't work

Then I drop all DB and remove the complete cacti dir and star all over again....

And I get

Code: Select all

RRDTool Says:

ERROR: opening '/home/httpd/html/cacti/rra/g_leones_101_traffic_in_21.rrd': No such file or directory
the same wtf!!!!!....

then I run manually (with the cacti user)

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/rrdtool create \
/home/httpd/html/cacti/rra/g_leones_101_traffic_in_15.rrd \
--step 300 \
DS:traffic_in:COUNTER:600:0:1000000000 \
DS:traffic_out:COUNTER:600:0:1000000000 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:600 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:6:700 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:24:775 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:797 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:1:600 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:6:700 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:24:775 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:288:797 \
And it was create!!!

So ... I have no idea what's append!

Please Help!!!!!

Check the devices list and make sure the device in question isn't listed as "down".

Nop, I just using:
ArchLinux kernel 2.6.23
Mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.45
PHP 5.2.5 with Suhosin-Patch 0.9.6.2
RRDtool 1.2.23

and the user has the enough permissions (I run ping.pl from scripts without problems).

HELP!!!!!

PD: Just in case.... I decomented the line "extensions=sockets.so" in php.ini
PD2: The errors in PING command are normal since my "cactiuser" don't have root privileges, there is a warning when you selected the IGMP PING!. Anyway... there is some same problems in the forum related to "unknown states"

again

HELP!!!!!

This is an issue with cacti not being able to assign the correct data for your indexed query. This problem is an old one but was never fixed, IMHO. I took the relevant part of the cacti.log and a dump of your mysql db for more analysis. But this may take some time

The error is related to the ifAlias and ifDescr showing more than one consecutive blanks. This is a general error with cacti and I've opened a bug report for it. I'm quite sure that I won't need access from now on (else I will pm you)

Please download database.php from http://svn.cacti.net/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi ... 0.8.7/lib/ as a whole file and replace your current file by the new one. Post your findings.

Also, run the following:

php -m

You must see the following "required" modules:

sockets
snmp (IMHO)
xml
mysql

Many plugins require:

posix
gd

I suspect you are missing the sockets module. Easy fix depending on your os. Typically you might leave it out if you built PHP on you own. Typically it's always enabled if you get from a distro.
