manage: too much up emails

Post by torstentfk »

hello,

on cacti 087 witgh pia I have manage installed and this plugin floods us with up emails. The emails are only from up events without down events. Not from one host but from all hosts and not one time but rather 2 times per minute....

Whats wrong?

as developpers said, cacti 0.8.7 includes many code change, specially in function like snmp_get and snmp_walk (because of snmp v3 support)

so manage (0.5.1) is currently break

(the "include global.php" magic is not sufficient)

update is ready (0.5.2 will only be ok for cacti 0.8.7+) but i currently don't have migrate my own system to 0.8.7a
i have a 0.8.7a test box which is ok, btw

after this done, i will ask for a beta tester (mcutting, if you read this, PM me if you're ok)

Gilles - I will test this. I have MANAGE 0.5.1 running on 0.8.7a, but it's not all that stable. I also have a feeling that it interferes with other plugins, as my THOLD dead host alerts have suddenly died !

PM me when you have time.

Nothing wrong with the old version. ;)

Works just fine for me, just needs a little bit of tweaking.

Agreed, but even with the tweaks, the service and process checks do not work. This is because the way CACTI 0.8.7 handles SNMP checks has changed....

I haven't checked out the process checks yet, but the service checks do indeed work. I'm looking at about a dozen different machines and about a dozen different ports. It reports when they're up and down.

I am using manage's poller instead of Cacti's poller though, that could be making the difference.

Probably yes - I am using Cacti's poller, and it doesn't work (I will need to thoroughly checkm this though, as it's possible I missed something)

The quickie thing to check if you're going to use the manage poller, is make sure it's marked as executable. That's what I found.
