[SOLVED] 0.8.7a, 0.8.6j - all devices graph the same host

Post by infestdead »

I installed cacti 0.8.7a on my gentoo and added a couple of devices. I soon noticed that all devices show identical graphs of the same host (localhost I think). I then tried:
- installing different version of cacti (0.8.6j.. etc)
- using snmp v1,2,3 on those hosts (snmpget from the machine where cacti is works in all cases)
- i'm sure all my permissions are correct and the poller is running fine from my crontab

I have no more ideas. :)
Please help.

umm, so you went back to 0.8.6j and stuff was STILL duplicated? I hope you used a new database.

Yeap, dropped and created databse every time...
If this is a known bug I can try 0.8.6j one more time... after all those reinstalls who knows what I've missed..

p.s. - here's also an image to illustrate my problem - all those are separate hosts, with separate usernames, passwords, everything

The "Unix" graphs are for localhost only. If you apply them to other hosts, all the graphs will be of localhost and not those other hosts. UCD/NET SNMP Graph Templates are the correct templates for remote hosts.

I really think the "Local Linux Machine" host template should be removed, or at least renamed (to something like "Local Cacti server").

Ahaaaaa! :D :) Yeahhh it works:)
You should put that info in the docs somewhere in big red letters.
:)
And for the record - I used mostly the Generic SNMP enabled host template.

Thank you again. ;)
